Story Time:

In my early childhood we lived way out in the boonies of Western Washington. Our only neighbors were an elderly couple across a field and a few houses way down the street. In one of those houses was a young teenage girl that would babysit my sister & I during the summers when our parents had to work.

One time we had a summer sleepover at her house and we set up our sleeping bags on the 80’s style folding plastic lawn chairs. As we giggled and chatted she encouraged my sister and I to look up and suddenly meteors where flying all across the sky. It was extra magical because where we lived it was surround by fields and trees with zero light pollution. It took my breath away.

Somehow this babysitter knew about the yearly Perseid Meteor shower & shared this with my sister and I. It was at a time when there was a lot of upheaval, fighting and arguing in my home between my parents. Sitting under the stars with her we felt safe, seen and loved.

I look forward to every year in August between the 9th - 12th. When my daughter was younger we would plan fun times around this; making yummy snacks to bring outside, staying up late, laying out on the grass just gazing up & away from any technology.

So I chose Perseid Prana as a way to honor a magical memory where I felt safe in the hopes that as you join me on your yoga journey you feel welcomed & safe, too.
